The lives of Saints Margaret, Barbara and Catherine in medieval plainchant and motets

The widespread artistic depictions of the Virgin Mary as the queen of virgins surrounded by four companions demonstrates the great honor paid to these five women during the Middle Ages. This concert commemorates the thorny lives of these martyrs, whose veneration is preserved in numerous medieval musical manuscripts.

Based in Prague, the Tiburtina Ensemble specializes in the interpretation of Gregorian chant and medieval polyphony. The ensemble ranks among the best in Europe in the field of early music performance thanks to its unmistakable timbre and impassioned expression.
