Praised for playing with “unadulterated joy and funk” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), ACRONYM excels at sharing the excitement of musical discovery with audiences today. For their debut in our series, this virtuoso ensemble invites us to a fascinating journey of 17th-century Italian music as it resonated with the Habsburg dynasty at the Imperial Court of Vienna.

Joining the ensemble with a spirit of curiosity and adventure is GRAMMY®-nominated countertenor Reginald Mobley, whose “celestial tone” (San Francisco Classical Voice) brings this music vividly to life.

With a voice praised for its “shimmering beauty” and “captivating intensity,” countertenor Reginald Mobley has become one of the most admired artists of his generation. Known for his deeply expressive performances, Mobley has appeared with leading ensembles and orchestras around the world, including the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Les Arts Florissants, and the Monteverdi Choir. We are thrilled to welcome this extraordinary artist to Columbus for an unforgettable evening of music.

Founded in 2012, ACRONYM has quickly become one of the most exciting modern interpreters of Baroque music with performances revel the creativity and imagination . Known for their energetic playing, expressive storytelling, and commitment to rediscovering hidden musical treasures, they have established themselves as a leading voice in the revival of early Baroque repertoire.

Lasciatemi Morire

Songs of Love, Death and Devotion

Under the patronage of Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I, Italian musicians found a second home in Vienna. An accomplished composer himself, Leopold assembled one of Europe's most extraordinary musical courts. This program features music by the genius Italian composers he had at his disposal, as well as the rare opportunity to listen to some of his own original compositions.
