British vocal ensemble The Gesualdo Six has captivated audiences around the world, regularly performing to sold-out halls with their stunning performances of music from the Renaissance. Four years after their glorious Columbus debut, we are delighted to welcome them back.
In the glorious acoustics of St. Joseph Cathedral,
it is an experience not to be missed!
“…with the voices soaring and interweaving high above us,
it was no wonder that in centuries past,
congregations sitting in the first gothic cathedrals
believed in angels.”
Praised for their “perfect blend, sparkling clean intonation and vocal coloring,” British vocal ensemble The Gesualdo Six has become one of the world's most admired vocal groups. Acclaimed for their expressive performances and beautifully crafted programming, the group is one of the most sought after vocal groups on the scene today. With appearances at many of Europe's leading festivals and concert halls, The Gesualdo Six continues to captivate audiences with their warm, perfectly blended, and intimate singing style.
Founded by conductor and composer Owain Park, the ensemble reflects his distinctive artistic vision and passion for thoughtful programming. One of Britain's most sought-after choral musicians, Park is celebrated both for his inspiring direction and his award-winning compositions, which are performed regularly by leading choirs around the world.
Penitence & Prayer
The Gesualdo Six present a sequence of penitential music, setting profound texts that explore sorrow, supplication, and hope. At its heart are the Lamentations of Robert White, whose expansive, suspended lines evoke the desolation of Jerusalem, paired with contemporary works by Cheryl Frances-Hoad and Owain Park.
Around these pillars, Renaissance masters from Italy and Spain trace a path between shadow and light, drawing the listener into a world of transcendence.
