Since its foundation in 1976, The Early Interval has delighted Columbus’ audiences with imaginative programs that bring centuries of history to life. This year, the ensemble invites us to follow the “Star in the East” along with the Magi. Blending diverse cultures and traditions, this program reimagines their legendary journey with music spanning the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and Europe. Audiences will once again discover why this is one of the most popular programs in our season.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary,The Early Interval has been a beloved champion of early music in Columbus since its inception. Known for expressive performances and adventurous programming, the ensemble fills a unique niche in the city's musical life. The versatility of its members allows them to perform on an impressive array of historical instruments, allowing them to explore and honor the sound worlds of distant cultures and centuries.

A cherished holiday tradition, their annual Ron Cook Twelfth Night performance has long been a wonderful way to ring in the new year, delighting audiences with a fresh program each year. Last year this annual concert was named in honor of Ron Cook, one of the ensemble's founders and an integral member of the Early Music in Columbus board for decades.
